Have you been to the Bluesky Music Festival? Over the last eight years it has evolved from a free, volunteer “picnic jam” to an organized two-day event.
Last year, the festival hosted 19 musical acts.
Behind the festival is a small but dedicated group, led by Long Story Records founders Jill Luka, Terry Cameron, Jeremy McCracken and Kurt Furstenwerth.
“The Bluesky Music Festival is unique to the region. We focus on showcasing local, independent and original music,” said Event Organizer Kurt Furstenwerth. “Our goal is to provide an affordable, family friendly event highlighting the best musicians in the region.”
Furstenwerth says organizing the event is an absolute blast, but it takes a great deal of time—including finding sponsorships, hiring talent, advertising and website design.
This year, organizers are very excited to partner with Heilan Beer House to introduce a beer garden. And, attendees can even sample the custom made, festival-inspired beer. Ask for the Bohemian Bluesky Pilsner.
