Our Origin Story
In 2012, the husband-and-wife duo of Van Slyke Inc. began collaborating with local government to promote Northwestern Alberta’s business sector, the opportunities within and the unique lifestyles of the people who live and thrive here. What resulted is an ongoing regional cooperation initiative called Move Up Magazine, which aims to foster civic pride and regional awareness. Move Up Magazine unites and connects Northwestern Alberta, creating ambassadors and conduits to growth.
MEET THE PUBLISHERS
After graduating from university in 2010 with bachelor’s degrees in media and communications, Tormaigh and Jenelle Van Slyke returned home to the Peace Region eager to start their careers.
The duo hit the ground running by starting theVAULTmagaine—the Peace Region’s premier alternative newspaper, which turned out to be the catalyst to greater endeavors.
With two years of publishing experience under their belts, the Van Slykes launched Move Up Magazine in the Spring of 2013.
Jenelle and Tormaigh continue to provide Northwestern Alberta with quality publications and top-notch graphic design through VAULTmedia. While they are a mere team of two at the core of their business, Tormaigh and Jenelle rely on a team of talented writers, photographers, designers and stakeholders to create their products as well as a team of advertisers, readers and supporters to continue doing what they love.
I'M TORMAIGH VAN SLYKE.
As the co-owner of Move Up and VAULTmedia, Tormaigh handles the sales, distribution, client relations and writing in Move Up.
Tormaigh graduated from University Canada West in 2010 with a BA in Media and Communications with distinction and even earned the Dean's Award for graduating at the top of his class.
Tormaigh enjoys playing guitar and mandolin, taking road trips and meeting new people.
I'M JENELLE VAN SLYKE.
As the co-owner of Move Up and VAULTmedia, Jenelle is responsible for editing, layout, social media management, website design and publishing.
Jenelle graduated from University Canada West in 2010 with a BA in Media and Communications with distinction.
Jenelle enjoys cooking fabulous meals, travelling to far away lands and reading.
