Peace River author Talena Winters often writes stories set close to home, but with her latest release, she only had to venture out her front door.
“Life in the north is so different from anywhere else. I wanted to create a story world that showcased the beautiful scenery of the Peace Country and the way of life here,” said Winters.
Winters’ new title, Every Star that Shines, is the first book in her clean, sweet small-town romance series.
“Every Star that Shines is about an aspiring Vancouver actress who returns home to Peace Crossing after getting cancelled over a YouTube video. While she’s back in town, she helps direct the local kids’ musical theatre production with help from the high school sweetheart who broke her heart by staying behind when she left,” said Winters. “I wanted to pay homage to the fantastic Peace River theatre community while tackling tough real-life issues.”
Winters took inspiration for the series from living in the community of Peace River for the past 17 years, but especially from her four years interviewing and writing about locals in her role as a writer for Move Up Magazine.
“I’ve been blessed to share the real-life stories of so many amazing people in the Peace Country. While all the characters in my books are completely fictional, I hope they reflect the resilience, resourcefulness and warmth of the folks I’m privileged to call my friends and neighbours,” said Winters.
The book releases August 10, 2022. Visit talenawinters.com/every-star for more information.
