With 16 hands-on cooking sessions over eight days, Chef Matthew Rivers spent time in the region sharing his love of cooking with junior and senior high school students in Grimshaw, Peace River, Berwyn, Dixonville, Manning and Fairview.

The students learned culinary skills under Chef Rivers’ tutelage such as knife skills, developing flavour profiles, teamwork and presentation.

Chef Rivers has worked alongside talented chefs in Ontario and the US, launched his own sushi business and cooked for elite athletes while they prepared for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

This program was organized by the Role Modeling/Mentoring Youth Initiative, which is sponsored by the Town of Grimshaw, Village of Berwyn, MD of Peace #135, County of Northern Lights, Peace River School Division and the Peace Regional RCMP Detachment.
