With a plaid dress code, Peace River Rotaract aimed to “paint the town plaid” at the 2024 Rotaract River Days from July 5 to 7—and paint it plaid they did.
Held in conjunction with the Peace River Gold Cup Jet Boat Races, the three-day event was jam-packed with activities, games and entertainment for every member of the family.
On Friday, River Days held a block party on 101 Street with a jet boat show & shine, food trucks, art hub exhibit, Darren Gach Karaoke Contest, Peace Primates Arm Wrestling Competitions, axe throwing and more.
On Saturday, the event took over Riverfront Park with live music, Mann’s Landing Market and beer garden. There were also great activities for kids like the bubble bonanza, slip and slide, mining for money, face painting, balloon art, laser tag and bouncy castles.
On Sunday, the weekend wound down with a flapjack breakfast, show and shine, princess picnic, superhero meet up and more.
The Peace River and District Chamber of Commerce organized the Mad for Plaid Spirit Contest where local businesses were encouraged to decorate storefronts, have participating promotions and product displays and engage customers with interactive elements to share on social media.
Western Financial Group took first place in the Mad for Plaid Contest, Robinson and Associates won second place and Kit Office Plus placed third.
Peace River Rotaract plans to host another amazing event next year. If you have any feedback on how to improve next year’s event complete the form at
