A long-missed feature at the Peace Regional Pool is on its way back.
The Town of Peace River and Northern Sunrise County are excited to announce the Peace Regional Pool Hot Tub Replacement Project is officially moving forward, thanks to a strong regional partnership and major funding support from Northern Sunrise County.
The total project budget is $1.61 million, with Northern Sunrise County contributing $800,000. The Town is covering the remainder, with more than $650,000 coming from grant funding.
“This is great news for our residents and for the future of the Peace Regional Pool,” said Town of Peace River Mayor Elaine Manzer. “The hot tub was a much-loved part of the facility, and we’re thrilled to bring it back. This is also about long-term sustainability, as our building assessment shows that with continued investment, the pool can serve the region for another 20-plus years.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2025 during the annual pool shutdown, with completion expected by January 2026.
The main pool will remain open throughout most of the construction, with any short-term closures communicated in advance.
“The return of the hot tub is something many people have been looking forward to, and we’re proud to help make it happen,” said Northern Sunrise County Reeve Corinna Williams.
The new hot tub will be fully accessible and designed to serve a wide range of users. This project highlights the continued collaboration between the Town of Peace River and Northern Sunrise County to invest in regional amenities that benefit everyone.
