After a successful pilot project, Mackenzie County is continuing to work with FoodCycler to offer County residents a option to buy a subsidized FoodCycler unit.

The FoodCycler is an innovative food waste diversion solution. Reducing waste at the source, it recycles food scraps into a by-product that can be used as fertilizer or compost. Using it helps reduce landfill waste, and the carbon filtration eliminates odours.

With 150 spots available, Mackenzie County residents can access this innovative food waste diversion solution for significantly less: FoodCycler Eco 3 for $200 (Reg. $599) or a FoodCycler Eco 5 for $300 (Reg. $815).

During Mackenzie County’s FoodCycler Pilot Project 100 households participated over a 12 week period. Based on the results, they estimate 37.17 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions would be diverted per year and 28.6 metric tonnes of food waste would be diverted per year—saving the user 33.77 garbage bags per household annually.

Hands down, participants agreed (99%) they would continue to use their FoodCycler, 90% would recommend the FoodCycler to others and 66% said they are motivated to waste less food as a result of using the FoodCycler.
