Come out for 15 acres of fun at the The Corn Maze and Country Clutter Décor located just 16 km northwest of Brownvale.
Now in its 10th year of operation, owners Rachelle and Kent Koch are celebrating with a bang with a theme of fireworks and balloons.
When the Koch family moved to the region 15 years ago to pursue grain farming, corn farming was the furthest thing from their mind. In fact, it was their daughter’s idea. She had visited another corn maze and thought they could create their own. Rachelle wasn’t even
sure corn would grow this far north.

She had visited another corn maze and thought they could create their own. Rachelle wasn’t even sure corn would grow this far north.
“It took a couple years of her pressing on the idea and convincing us it would work, so in 2017 we decided to give it a go. We started with a maze cut to celebrate Canada’s 150, and we were blown away by the interest and enthusiasm,” said Rachelle. “We’re excited to welcome new and returning guests for our 10th year in a row.”
Over the years, many different themes have shaped the maze and the experience they aim to provide, but at its core, it’s an outdoor, agricultural experience where memories are made amid the peak bustle of harvest season.
“We like to keep it simple, farm-based entertainment. It’s an opportunity for anyone to come see a working farm,” said Rachelle. “This time of year has the most beautiful seasonal colours and weather, making it a perfect outdoor activity for friends and family to experience.”
The Koch family also operate a store onsite, Country Clutter Décor, where they sell curated new, vintage and antique goods as well as crafts Rachelle and her daughters create. This is also where corn-mazers pay for entry and get snacks and cold drinks.
With the theme in mind, the Koch family provides a word scramble sheet with weekly prizes to be won.
The Corn Maze is truly a family affair, with Rachelle and Kent’s children and their spouses all playing a role in the very busy but short season.
Kent plants the corn in May. He manages the weeding and eventually cuts the maze design into the corn field. Their daughters help design the maze. One son-in-law maps out the grid, and another son-in-law runs the drone and helps with the night maze.
On closing weekend in October, the maze is open after the sun sets below the horizon, creating a unique experience for adventure seekers. A big bonfire keeps participants warm and a movie is projected on the outdoor movie screen. Then, people can explore the maze with flashlights for a thrill before the corn maze is turned over to the cows.
“We would like to thank everyone who has supported the maze over the past decade,” said Rachelle.
At $10 per person—and free for children three and under—it’s a bargain for some wholesome family fun. The maze is open from 1pm to 8pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting August 14.
Close to Figure Eight Lake and Lac Cardinal Provincial parks, The Corn Maze is an ideal activity for nearby campers.
