The Town of Peace River is excited to announce a local tourism company with big dreams has taken ownership of the site formerly known as the Lions Campground.

Tourism leaders Alana and Felix Bergeron, owners of Peace River Adventures, have purchased the site and adjacent property, which was owned by Canadian National Railway, giving them full control of the campground.

After a competitive Request for Proposals process, the Bergerons’ vision stood out as the perfect fit for the site.

Peace River Adventures is a homegrown company offering jet boat tours, paddle equipment rentals, guided hiking excursions and river-based events throughout the summer and fall.

“We couldn’t be happier with the outcome of this process,” said Mayor Elaine Manzer.

“Seeing a local tourism operator breathe life into a cherished community resource is exactly what we hoped for when we put the site up for sale. The fact Peace River Adventures was able to secure the CN-owned portion of the property makes it even better.”

With the campground now in their hands, the Bergerons are planning a bold transformation that will bring new energy to the riverfront and boost Peace River’s reputation as a destination for adventure tourism.

“The acquisition of the campground marks an exciting new chapter for us,” said Alana. “Over the next three years, we have major redevelopment plans to transform the site into a vibrant adventure hub.”

The Bergerons say they are grateful to be part of such a supportive and collaborative community.

“A heartfelt thank-you goes out to the Town of Peace River and the Economic Development Committee for their continued support throughout our tourism development journey,” said Alana. “We look forward to working together to create a dynamic, new tourism offering that enhances the entire region’s visitor experience.”

This announcement is a win for residents, visitors and the entire Peace Region as Peace River Adventures takes this beloved riverside location into an exciting new era.
