Lucky Strike Bowling & Arcade | Peace River, AB
Located in downtown Peace River, Lucky Strike Bowling & Arcade has become a favourite stop for travellers, families and locals looking for great food, entertainment and a place to spend time together.
When local owners Lisa and Isaak Thiessen opened Lucky Strike in December 2024, their goal was to provide a modern gathering place for all ages.
“We didn’t just see it as a business opportunity. We saw an opportunity to build something for the community—a place where people can come together and enjoy themselves,” said Lisa.
Although the location was previously a bowling alley, it was important to the Thiessens to give the building a revamp to match their brand and vision.
“Neither of us came from a bowling background, so we spent a lot of time researching what people wanted and how to create the best experience we could. We wanted to ensure we got it right,” said Lisa.
With updated lanes, modern scoring systems, comfortable seating and thoughtful design, locals and travellers of all ages have a new and exciting place to go. The facility also offers glow bowling, golf simulators, pool tables, a full arcade, a licensed restaurant and party rentals.
“It was important to us that everything was done professionally and to a high standard. Now, you can walk in and feel the clean, welcoming atmosphere,” said Lisa.
“It was a lot of work,” said Isaak. “But it was worth it.”
According to the Thiessens, the restaurant has become a destination in its own right. Their menu has people coming back, whether they’re bowling or not.
“Our burgers, wings and pizza are all popular. We make our own burger patties and our own pizza dough here, and I think people appreciate that homemade touch,” said Lisa.
No two visits to Lucky Strike are the same. Some come for bowling league night. Others stop in for lunch or an afternoon with the family. Teens bike over after school. Parents catch up over a meal while the kids enjoy the arcade, and travellers find a welcoming spot that has it all.
“You don’t have to come here just to bowl. Come for lunch, let the kids enjoy the arcade, spend some time on the golf simulators or meet friends for a meal. There’s something here for everyone,” said Lisa.
Throughout the year, Lucky Strike welcomes school groups, hockey teams, seniors’ leagues, Special Olympics athletes, youth bowling programs and corporate events—making it a community gathering place.
“It’s become much more than I ever imagined,” said Lisa. “Seeing families celebrate birthdays, coworkers connect, hockey teams gather and people enjoying time together has been incredibly rewarding.”
Community partnerships have become an important part of Lucky Strike’s story. Businesses and organizations have sponsored free bowling events, helping to make the centre accessible to more families.
“We hope to continue growing these partnerships and creating more opportunities for people to connect,” said Lisa. “We’re very grateful for the support we’ve received from the community. It’s helped make Lucky Strike what it is today.”
