Cutting Grass, Not Corners

Improving Your Outdoor Space with Care and Consistency

On a warm summer morning, Andrew Hamm, 30, can often be found doing what he enjoys most—transforming outdoor spaces with care. Whether it is a homeowner looking for consistent upkeep or a business owner seeking to enhance their curb appeal, Hamm wants to help.

“I just want to take the worry off people’s plates,” said Hamm. “A lawn should be enjoyed, not stressed over. When my clients come home after a long day, I want their yard to feel like part of their peace, not another thing on their to-do list.”

This is the philosophy at the heart of Clean Cut Lawn Services, the business Hamm officially launched in 2023, serving the La Crete, High Level, Fort Vermilion and Zama areas.

Hamm had the idea for this business in the back of his mind for a while, but health issues prevented him from acting on it.

“For a long time I just didn’t have the capacity,” said Hamm. “Once my health improved, it felt like a switch flipped. I finally had the energy to say, ‘If I don’t do this now, I never will.’”

With renewed energy, Hamm committed fully to building his business, even if it meant starting small and growing steadily.

“I didn’t want to rush it,” said Hamm. “I wanted to build it properly.”

Early on, that meant minimal equipment, long days and taking on jobs one yard at a time.

“I’d rather grow a bit slower and do the work properly,” said Hamm. “Cutting corners just to grow faster never made sense to me.”

For Hamm, it is all about care, consistency and pride in a job done right.

“When a yard is looked after properly, people use it more, and it changes how they feel about their home,” said Hamm. “I want people to feel proud of their yard.”

Clean Cut provides residential and commercial lawn care services including regular mowing, trimming and edging, tree and hedge trimming, fertilization, aeration and seasonal cleanup.

“No job is too big or too small,” said Hamm.

“If you have grass, I can make it look amazing.”

Reliability and communication are central to how the business operates, says Hamm.

“A lot of my clients are really busy people,” said Hamm. “They work long hours and are frequently away from home. They don’t have time to worry about their lawn, and they definitely don’t want to chase someone down to get their lawn work done.”

To simplify the process, Hamm often provides quotes remotely using digital tools.

“They can just give me their address,” said Hamm. “I can measure it and give them a quote without needing to meet in person.”

Clean Cut Lawn Services is about more than lawn care. It is about making personal connections and improving lives.

“Other than my family, nothing brings me more joy than doing a complete yard makeover. I want people to be proud of their yard. It makes them want to have barbecues in the evenings and enjoy their home,” said Hamm. “When people tell me they’re using their yard again, I know the work really matters.”

As demand has grown, Hamm has kept the business rooted in community, occasionally hiring his nephews during the summer months to help with mowing.

“They really enjoy helping out when they’re not in school,” said Hamm.

Hamm looks forward to growing his company, slowly and intentionally.

“I’ll probably be hiring another crew soon because I’m already booking jobs over the winter,” said Hamm. “Long term, I plan to invest in additional equipment and expand capacity. I want to have at least five crews by the time I’m 40. I just want to ensure it grows the right way.”

With growth on the horizon, Hamm’s focus is to keep his business dealings personal and rooted in genuine care.

“I don’t take people on just as clients—I take them on as friends,” said Hamm.

Hamm would like to thank all his clients, especially his early ones who took a chance on a new business and helped it grow, one yard at a time.
